#3 From Burnout to Breakthrough: How AI Changed My Life

Join me on a journey of innovation, learning, and building together, one step at a time.

Lesson Objectives

  • Reflect on how a single experience can reignite a passion for learning and creation.

  • Understand the transformative potential of AI and automation for educators.

  • Get excited about learning new skills together, one step at a time, and empowering our work as educators.

Do Now

Think back to a time when something sparked your excitement for learning—what was it? How did it make you feel, and how did it change you?

What We’re Working with Today

This week, I want to share something personal: a journey I didn’t expect to take. I used to come home from work every day feeling exhausted, spending hours watching videos, playing games, or napping in the evening. Sure, I have always enjoyed my work. It’s meaningful, I know I make a difference. I love the people in my life, I really value my connections with my tribe. But I had fallen into this rhythm in my life where I lost this excitement, this thirst for knowledge, the joy of solving problems.

In July of 2024, something shifted—a spark I hadn’t felt in years reignited, thanks to a No Code x AI bootcamp I took on Maven. That course lit a fire in me. It wasn’t just about learning new skills—it was about feeling inspired to create, to problem-solve, and to think in ways I hadn’t in a long time. Suddenly, I was back to trying, failing, learning, and building.

I Do, We Do, You Do

I Do: My Transformation Through AI and Automation

Taking that bootcamp completely transformed my life and my work. I’m now creating things I’d never dreamed of before—automations, chatbots, courses, digital tools—ideas that will change the way we work in education. Ideas that can give our students with special needs the access to a digital world they currently don’t have meaningful access to. I don’t know where this journey will lead, but the excitement it’s brought to my life is worth it no matter what.

This was my birthday week. I’m writing this newsletter while on vacation and I felt it was appropriate to share my ‘why.’ There’s something incredibly fulfilling about creating and problem-solving with AI and automation. I want every educator to feel the thrill of seeing a chatbot they built in action or watching an automation run perfectly for the first time.

We Do: Building Together as Educators

I’m working on repurposing the email course I initially created for my friend Jenn. It will be offered on Gumroad for free. It will be 30 days of bite-size lessons and mini assignments designed to ease you into the world of AI and automation. Whether you’re curious about AI or already experimenting with automation, this course is designed to bring us together on this journey. Share it with friends, colleagues, and anyone who could benefit from a spark of inspiration.

Education is my life’s passion. Here’s what I believe: No one understands the needs of educators better than educators themselves. When we work together, we’re unstoppable. Let’s do it. Let’s build publicly and collectively. This journey isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress, trial and error, and shared excitement. I can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together.

Building collectively is an evolution of the “build in public” concept, tailored for educators. It harnesses shared strengths and collaborative growth, easing the pressure of creating solutions alone. This approach fosters a supportive ecosystem where educators co-create, learn from each other, and achieve impactful results together.

You Do: Join the Journey

Are you ready to start creating your own solutions? It’s simpler than you think. I call it micromentum: a small commitment can build massive momentum. Whether you’re ready to build chatbots and automations or just curious about what AI can do for you, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
