#34 Glow-Up Season: From Sun-Kissed to AI-Assisted 🤖
Your 30-Day Summer Challenge to Emerge as the Most Tech-Savvy Educator on Campus
Lesson Objectives
A clear 30-day roadmap to AI mastery this summer
Ready-to-use prompts for goal-setting, daily challenges, and reflection
The confidence to start your AI glow-up journey today
Do Now
Before we get started, take a moment to picture this: You walk into your building this August, and you're not the same educator who left in June. You're glowing. Not just from summer sun (though hopefully you got some of that too), but from the confidence of knowing you've got AI tools in your back pocket that will save you hours every week.
While other educators spent summer scrolling social media, you invested 30 minutes a day building skills that will transform your entire school year.
What We’re Working with Today
Today we'll design your personalized 30-Day AI Summer Challenge, complete with daily micro-learning goals, troubleshooting prompts, and reflection frameworks that ensure this summer investment actually sticks.
It’s time! You know all those excuses you’ve had all year? “I’ll start when I’m less busy.” “I don’t have time right now.” “I want to make sure I can devote enough attention to this.” Well, I’m telling you those are just convenient lies we tell ourselves. There’s never a good time, so it’s always a good time. That’s what I always say. So I’m telling you now, this is the time. Start now!
I Do, We Do, You Do
I Do: Here’s What I Created
This week, I'm deep in hackathon mode with three other educators, building an AI-Powered Case Management System. There's something magical about collaborating with fellow educators. We're not just coding; we're solving real problems we face every day. (Follow our journey… I’m trying to post consistently on X @heymegan)
Beyond the hackathon, I've been prototyping new automation workflows for the fall semester. My latest project? An AI system that drafts differentiated assignment instructions based on IEP accommodations. Game-changer doesn't even begin to cover it.
Tools I used: Bolt.new, Gemini in AI Studio, VS Code, GitHub Desktop
We Do: Let’s Build This Together

Essential Prompts for Your Challenge
🎯 Goal-Setting Prompt (Day 1)
I'm an educator starting a 30-day AI learning challenge this summer. Help me identify 3 specific, measurable goals for how I want to use AI in my classroom/work life by the start of the school year.
My biggest time-drains are: [list your top 3-5 tasks that eat up your time]
My teaching context: [grade level, subject, special considerations]
My current AI experience level: [beginner/some experience/intermediate]
Please suggest realistic 30-day goals and break down week-by-week milestones to achieve them.
🔧 Daily Challenge Prompt (Days 8-21)
I'm on day [X] of my 30-day AI challenge. Today I want to use AI to help with: [specific task you're tackling]
My current approach takes: [time estimate]
My desired outcome: [what success looks like]
Any constraints I'm working with: [technology limitations, policies, etc.]
Please provide a step-by-step AI workflow I can try today, including specific prompts I should use.
🚧 Troubleshooting Prompt (When you get stuck)
I'm working on my AI challenge and running into this problem: [describe your specific issue]
What I tried: [list what you've attempted]
What happened instead: [describe the actual result]
What I was hoping for: [your intended outcome]
Help me troubleshoot this and suggest 2-3 alternative approaches I could try.
📝 Weekly Reflection Prompt (End of each week)
I just completed week [X] of my 30-day AI challenge. Help me reflect on my progress:
This week I learned: [key insights or skills]
My biggest win was: [specific success story]
I struggled with: [challenges you faced]
Time saved this week: [estimate in hours/minutes]
Based on this reflection, suggest 3 specific focus areas for next week and one way to build on my biggest win.
🏆 Final Challenge Reflection (Day 30)
I've completed my 30-day AI summer challenge! Help me create a comprehensive reflection and action plan:
My original goals were: [list your Day 1 goals]
What I actually accomplished: [honest assessment]
Biggest transformation: [how you've changed as an educator]
Tools I now use regularly: [your new AI toolkit]
Total time saved estimate: [weekly or daily time savings]
Create a "Fall Integration Plan" that helps me maintain these new AI habits when school gets busy, including specific systems for staying consistent.
You Do: Your Mini Task for the Week
Your mission this week: Use the Goal-Setting Prompt above to design your personalized 30-day challenge. Block out 15-30 minutes daily on your calendar for AI learning (yes, put it on your actual calendar).
Start Day 1 tomorrow. No "I'll start Monday" delays - summer days are precious!
